Licensed Professional Counselor

Life brings joy as well as sorrow, frustration, and disappointments. By God’s grace, He does not leave us alone. He offers a peace that passes understanding and support through brothers and sisters in Christ. When times are difficult and your struggles seem unmanageable, I offer a safe place for you to go – a place for you to share your story and navigate what the next steps might look like. My passion is to provide effective tools for you to use throughout life so you can see clearly through the clouds of despair, allowing God’s peace to intercede and work in your life as your mind and heart are open to Him.

My Goal as a Christian Counselor
My ultimate goal as your counselor is for you to walk in freedom and reach your God-given potential. My prayer is for you to find peace and joy, and to gain understanding of yourself and God’s plan and good purpose for your life.
What I Offer in Christian Counseling
I offer a safe, welcoming space where you can feel free to navigate your story and find the outcomes you desire. Depending on your comfort level, I do like to open and close our sessions with prayer. During our time together, I will encourage you to share what is on your mind and heart so we can work side-by-side to find solutions to the challenges you face. Following your lead, I will ask questions along the way to bring clarity or provide an opportunity for you to see things from a different perspective.
My Approach to Christian Counseling
My “go-to” has always been the Scriptures. I believe all of life’s questions have answers in the Word of God. I also know that our human nature needs understanding from a psychological viewpoint regarding how the body functions. Combining these approaches provides great tools to use in life – and not only tools, but the freedom to walk life’s journey with peace, joy, and victory.
Qualifications & Experience
I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) with a Master of Arts degree from The King’s University. I also hold a Bachelor of Science in Psychology and a BSN-RN (Registered Nurse) degree, both from Oral Roberts University.
My Call to Christian Counseling
My first undergraduate degree was in Psychology. When graduation was approaching, my supervisor told me I would need an MA or a Doctorate to get a job. At the time, I didn’t feel I was prepared for higher education, so I went to the nursing department, added nursing, and graduated with both degrees. I have now been a Registered Nurse for over 34 years. My passion in both nursing and counseling has always been to walk alongside and encourage individuals to become all that God has intended them to be, to their fullest potential. As I decided to go back to school in 2017 for my Master’s degree in Counseling, I knew that my life journey had taken the path it did to get me to that point for various reasons. God’s timing and plan are always the best.
More About Me/On a Personal Note
My children and grandchildren are my heart. I love spending time with them and watching them grow, physically and spiritually. I love seeing all that God has for them in their lives. I also enjoy the outdoors, walking, and various exercise routines.

Anxiety
Why does your heart race when someone walks up behind you and surprises you? Why do you toss and turn at night when you have a big day the next day, when all you want to do is sleep? Our bodies and brains function in such a way that we are naturally going to respond when we are excited, afraid, nervous, or angry. However, it can become problematic when these responses become more than one can manage, or when one can begin to almost feel like these feelings rule their life. No one wants to feel out of control of their emotions or feelings. Each person’s response to various stimuli or events is different. I will walk alongside you as we navigate these stimuli or events. Together we will work to determine not only what your responses are, but why you respond the way you do. Then we will work together to find tools that can be used to bring a sense of control over those feelings that seemed so out of control.
Depression
You have heard the phrase, “When life brings you lemons, make lemonade.” Life can be difficult and can become overwhelming. How do you manage when you feel overwhelmed? No one is making lemonade at this point, right? But with God, all things are possible! Finding Him in your storm, finding the peace that only God can give isn’t in the lemons but it is in His Word. Discovering and understanding how our bodies react to stressors and how this affects our minds and spirits can bring a deeper understanding of ourselves. With this understanding, we will look at where the reactions came from to bring clarity to move forward in healing and peace. I would be honored to walk alongside you as you navigate this season in your life.
Trauma
Do you ever wonder why certain people or situations trigger you in one way or another? There doesn’t seem to be any connection to the situation and how you feel, or perhaps you don’t know why you feel the way you do. Maybe there is a connection, but it may seem your reaction is over the top or perhaps others have told you so. Each person experiences things in their own way, and each experience is influenced by the past and present. How can one make sense of it all and work to develop responses that will maintain relationships and not push them away? I will walk alongside you as we discover some potentially difficult events or situations you have encountered along life’s journey that may have affected your responses today. As we discover these in a safe place, we will look at what healing and restoration can look like and walk that road together.
Codependency
Many assume that codependency only refers to intimate relationships or drug users. However, understanding what codependency is and where it started in one’s life can be life-changing. Codependency can affect relationships, but also how individuals view themselves. Have you heard the phrase, “Help me, Lord, to see others the way You see them?” We also need to have our lenses cleared to see ourselves the way God sees us. When we can truly see our worth in God’s eyes and believe it, we will see others differently. Our view of ourselves, others, and those relationships will change. I will walk with you as you navigate a clearer view of yourself and take steps toward healthier relationships.
Women’s Issues
Women are masterfully made. Each one is unique in every way. Discovering and understanding your uniqueness comes with uncovering your strengths and weaknesses. Each one has their own story, and bringing clarity to who you are in Christ and as an individual brings out your true self. Let your story enhance you, not define you! I will walk with you on your journey for discovery and renewal of mind, body, and spirit.
