Kris Wood, M.Ed., LPC
Licensed Professional Counselor
(469) 333-6163
Having been married for 27 years and counseling for 25 years, I offer a wealth of life and work experience as well as a compassionate and steady presence for those seeking healing and direction. If you are looking for guidance that is grounded in truth, I would be honored to help you grow in your reliance on Scripture so your relationship with God becomes stronger and more central in your life. Together, we will focus on practical steps you can apply in your daily life so that what you learn in counseling does not stay in the session but becomes part of how you truly live.

Online Counseling – Tue, Wed & Thu
Clients often share that they feel comfortable and safe opening up with me, and I count that as a true gift. I genuinely care about people and consider it a privilege to walk alongside you as God brings healing, clarity, and transformation in your life. Whether you’re navigating challenges in your marriage, relationships, or family, or simply feeling stuck and unsure of what comes next, you don’t have to face it alone. I work with individuals, couples, and teens to gently move beyond surface struggles and uncover what’s really going on beneath the surface.
My Goal as a Christian Counselor
My goal is to help you quickly feel comfortable and understood while also getting to the root of what is really going on in your life. You can expect me to be both compassionate and honest, offering support while also guiding you toward truth rooted in God’s Word. I believe Scripture speaks to the struggles we face and provides the wisdom and direction we need for real change. In our work together, we will focus on understanding the gospel more deeply and recognizing the gift of His grace. Ultimately, my goal is to help you find lasting results by keeping Christ at the center as the true solution.
What I Offer in Christian Counseling
I offer a warm, welcoming space where you can feel free to share your concerns without fear of judgment. As your counselor, I will seek to build a genuine connection with you by meeting you where you are. From there, we will begin to explore what God has for your life and how you can move forward with clarity and purpose.
My Approach to Christian Counseling
My approach to counseling is rooted in Scripture. Together, we will go to the source of our being to find the answers we are searching for and learn how to lay our burdens at the feet of Christ. My hope is that as you grow in your understanding of who God is, including His power, presence, and knowledge, you will begin to see your situation differently. From there, we can take practical clinical steps to address what you are facing. This process often brings both relief and meaningful spiritual growth.
Qualifications & Experience
I hold a Master of Education in Guidance and Counseling from Eastern New Mexico University. My experience over the past 25 years includes behavioral support, parenting and family guidance, and counseling for individuals, couples, and families. I also spent 17 years in special education. That season shaped my ability to meet people with patience, understanding, and practical care in the midst of complex situations.
Beyond my professional training, much of my perspective is rooted in life experience. I have been married for 27 years and have raised my own children, while also opening my home to care for others along the way. These experiences have given me a deeper appreciation for the joys and challenges of seasons of life, allowing me to offer guidance that is both grounded and compassionate, meeting you where you are with wisdom, grace, and understanding.
My Call to Christian Counseling
After I was saved, I realized that my role as a secular counselor no longer aligned with my beliefs. I felt called to speak openly about the gospel with those I was helping, which was not something I could do in a secular setting. As a Christian counselor, I find great joy in being able to share my faith with clients as we witness together the work of God in their lives.
More About Me/On a Personal Note
More than anything, I cherish time with my husband and family. Those everyday moments together, along with time spent with our extended family, are what mean the most to me. Together we enjoy spending time outdoors, whether that’s hiking, golfing, being near the water, or enjoying a day on the slopes. I also enjoy being creative as an artist, but being surrounded with the people I love (and with our dog close by) is truly my favorite place to be.

Marriage Counseling
I will gently guide you back to God’s design for marriage as a sacred covenant—one marked by faithful commitment, not just in seasons of ease but also in times of challenge. Scripture calls us to love one another with humility and a heart of service, reflecting Christ’s love for His people (Ephesians 5:25–27). Together, we will explore what it looks like to honor that covenant daily, choosing commitment through actions, words, and attitudes, and learning to serve one another in ways that build unity, restore connection, and strengthen your relationship with both each other and the Lord. As we do this, we are reminded that “a cord of three strands is not quickly broken” (Ecclesiastes 4:12), pointing to the strength that comes when Christ remains at the center of marriage.
Counseling for Teens
I will meet your teen where they are and come alongside them with compassion and honesty, helping them see their worth through God’s eyes rather than the shifting opinions of peers. Together we will look to Scripture for truth about identity, relationships, and wise decision-making, learning how to respond to conflict with humility and grace. I encourage honoring parents and trusted authorities as part of God’s good design, even when it feels challenging, while also creating space to process real struggles (Ephesians 6:1–3). My goal is to help teens grow in confidence, wisdom, and discernment, grounded in God’s Word and secure in who He says they are.
Individual Counseling
As we meet together I will seek not only to understand your situation, but to help you take meaningful steps toward healing, growth, and stability. No matter the trial you are facing, we will explore your thought patterns emotional responses, and gently align them with biblical truth. Whether you are experiencing anxiety, relationship struggles, life transitions, or feeling stuck, we will take time to understand not just the symptoms, but what is happening at a deeper heart level. The goal is not just short-term relief, but lasting change as you deepen your relationship with God and learn to apply His truth in your everyday life.
Relationship Issues
In counseling relationship struggles, I seek to gently guide clients back to the wisdom and truth of Scripture, where God speaks clearly about love, humility, forgiveness, and reconciliation. We will look at what it means to love as Christ loves (John 13:34), to walk in humility and consider one another above ourselves (Philippians 2:3–4), and to extend grace and forgiveness as we have been forgiven (Colossians 3:13). My role is to help you apply these truths in practical ways, inviting God to soften hearts, restore understanding, and strengthen your relationships as you grow in Christ-centered love.
Family Counseling
When counseling family and parenting relationship issues, my goal is to guide individuals back to the wisdom and sufficiency of God’s Word as the foundation for truth, healing, and restoration. My desire is to help families apply biblical truth in practical ways, strengthening relationships by aligning hearts with Christ and allowing His grace to guide daily interactions.
