True peace and healing only come from a life transformed by the power of God. As we work together to help you develop a spiritually-based emotional peace, my hope is that you will experience reduced anxiety and depressive thoughts, stronger relationships, and a renewed hope built on the Lord. Through my personal, pastoral, and clinical experience, I will listen to your story and determine the best path forward to treat your immediate symptoms and guide you toward lasting hope and peace in Christ.
My Goal as a Christian Counselor
Romans 12:2 says we are to “be transformed by the renewing of your mind.” My goal is for you to enjoy God’s peace that passes understanding (Philippians 4:7) by learning what it means to have a “God-shaped brain.” Whether you’re struggling with anxious or depressive thoughts, effects of trauma or PTSD, complicated relationship issues, or other challenges, God can lead you on a life-changing journey toward the renewal of your mind until you land in a place of joy, hope, and peace in Him.
What I Offer in Christian Counseling
I offer a welcoming, confidential space where you can let your guard down and feel free to be yourself. With empathy and a pastoral heart, I will listen to your struggles without judgement and give you a place to lay down your burdens. Using a brain health model, I teach proven coping skills that restore balance in your thoughts and emotions. Applying this method through a faith-based lens can offer tremendous positive change in your life, with God’s help.
My Approach to Christian Counseling
As a Christian counselor, I use evidence-based psychological interventions along with spiritual insights, Scripture, and prayer to help you grow in the peace of God. Through decades of experience as a pastor, I’ve learned that true peace and healing only come from a life transformed by the power of God. I will walk alongside you and help you navigate the best next steps for you to reach a haven of contentment and joy in the Lord.
Qualifications & Experience
I hold a BBA with a Church Music Minor from Dallas Baptist University and an MA in Professional Counseling from Liberty University. I have also received training in Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT) for PTSD and a Brain Health Certification from Amen University.
I have been a licensed and ordained minister since 1980. I have served full-time in various pastoral music/worship combination positions until 2018, including roles related to Music, Youth, Senior Adults, Discipleship, Administration, Media, and Congregational Care. In 2018, when I began full-time clinical counseling, I moved to part-time worship positions, in which I continue to serve at this time.
My Call to Christian Counseling
In 2009, while serving as Minister of Music and Discipleship at a church, after leading numerous Bible studies and discipleship courses, I worked closely with a doctoral candidate to develop courses. This mentor helped me develop my love for helping church members deal with mental health issues. I soon realized God was calling me to pursue counseling education to become a Licensed Professional Counselor to enable me to reach a wider range of clients. While completing my Brain Health Certification, which is a Christian-based approach, I realized that there is a great need in the church for my professional skills, and through my private practice, I have been able to focus on helping Christian clients.
More About Me/On a Personal Note
My greatest personal interest is my family. I have two wonderful daughters, each of whom have fine Christian husbands. My wife and I spend as much time as possible with each of their families, and we adore our five grandchildren, ages 14–20. When my schedule and back allow, I love to play golf, but I truly love leading, planning, and playing my guitar in worship.

Anger Management
Using evidence-based tools integrated with Scriptural insights, you will learn effective coping and emotional regulation skills to manage your anger in a healthy and biblical way. If you struggle with frequent anger outbursts, quiet rage boiling under the surface, or a bitter and resentful spirit, hope and help are available. Find faith-based anger management therapy here to help you experience a deep and abiding peace, with God’s enabling.
Couples Counseling / Marriage Counseling
Through Christian couples and marriage counseling, I will help you and your partner identify presenting issues, learn effective communication skills, develop emotional intimacy skills, and understand God’s plan for your relationship. You will also learn how to listen effectively and share feelings in a non-threatening way, leading to a stronger, more intimate relationship.
Anxiety
Anxiety is often linked to an imbalance in the brain caused by an overactive “fight or flight” reflex. I work with clients to experience immediate relief with in-the-moment coping skills and mindfulness activities designed to increase activity in the logical front of the brain, which counteracts the negative effects of overproduction of cortisol in the limbic system. By combining these therapeutic techniques with a grounded view of God and His Word, you can experience lasting relief from your symptoms of anxiety.
Trauma and PSTD
Cognitive Processing Therapy is a highly effective method for treating trauma and PTSD. It encompasses immediate relief through brain balance, emotional regulation, recognizing the impact the trauma has caused in various areas of life, exposing the narrative of the traumatic event(s), and learning to challenge the untruths (lies of Satan) which keep people stuck in the trauma. If you are struggling with the effects of trauma or PTSD, healing and recovery are possible.
Depression
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy is an effective process for dealing with the Automatic Negative Thoughts (ANTs) that can lead you into the deep, dark hole of depression. Through brain-balancing coping skills, mindfulness techniques, and negative thought challenging paired with restorative self-worth exercises from Scripture, you can experience the healing of a “God-shaped” brain.
